The Big Beautiful Bikelane Blowout Bash!

Join Us!  Friday October 3rd

The City of Redding and Caltrans District 2 have completed the protected bikeway that extends four blocks of California Street, past the Shasta Bike Depot and the Downtown Transit Center, into the heart of Downtown Redding.

With this section completed, the connected city-street protected bike lanes make up more than half of a 5-mile loop through Downtown and along the Sacramento River Trail.

Shasta Living Streets, City of Redding, Caltrans District 2 and partners are pleased to announce the completion of the bikeways.  We’re celebrating.  Please join us!

Caltrans District 2 is proud to have been a partner in helping to make the California Cycle Track a reality, building upon the bike lanes originally installed on this state route by Caltrans years ago. Those lanes were a first for Redding at the time, and this new enhancement marks another major milestone in the city’s and Caltrans’ ongoing commitment to multimodal transportation.

Caltrans District 2 Director Dave Moore:

Whether you’re walking, biking, or driving, Caltrans is committed to creating safe, accessible roadways for everyone,” said Caltrans District 2 Director Dave Moore. “I’m thrilled to see this project completed, and it’s exciting to watch how these new bikeways will benefit our community for years to come.

Steve Bade, Assistant City Manager:

This project is the result of a multi-layered public-private partnership that furthers the goals of the Downtown Specific Plan and Downtown Redding Community-Based Transportation Plan,” said Steve Bade, Assistant City Manager. “The California Street cycle track is an active transportation improvement that adds to the vibrancy of downtown and improves the connectivity to the surrounding areas.”
