DETAILS AND INFORMATION

Redding Bikeshare

Redding Bikeshare is a best-of-class bikeshare system that includes high-quality pedal-assist bikes, individual docking kiosks, and easy to use technology. Redding Bikeshare is a two-wheeled transit service for the community.

Redding Bikeshare is owned and operated by the local community-based nonprofit organization, Shasta Living Streets.

Staff operate out of offices at the Shasta Bike Depot, at 1322 California Street, Redding CA 96001. call/text (530) 355-9434

It’s easy to begin using Redding Bikeshare

Download the BCycle App to your phone or device. Then select which pass type you would like and create an account. You can then use the mobile app to unlock a bike.

Pro-Tip: Download the App at home first, and purchase your pass, for use later.
This helps you avoid the trouble of downloading the App where internet service is not reliable. Then, your bikeshare pass will begin later, at the time you check-out a bike.

If you do not have a smart phone, no problem! Please visit us at the Shasta Bike Depot, or call Customer Service at (530) 355-9434. We can help you create an account, and get a small RFID tag to put on your key chain for easy bikeshare check-out.

Firmly push bike in the dock to end ride

– Firmly push the bike into a dock with both hands on the handlebars.
– The dock flashes green & beeps 3 times -> the bike is properly docked.|
– Your ride is closed in the system.
– You will receive an email confirming your bike has been returned.
– Text-messages are available – if you opt-in within the app.

If you do not receive a return notification or believe your ride has not closed, please call/text Customer Service (530) 355-9434.

Enjoy rides on streets & paved trails.
Avoid dirt trails, gravel, jumps, skidding.

Redding Bikeshare bikes are high-quality city bikes for streets and paved trails within the City of Redding.

Bikes are checked regularly and documented. We work hard to keep the bike fleet in good repair and ready for use by everyone. Misuse and damage to bikes will be charged to user.

Adjust the seat for your comfort

Adjust the seat to meet your hip hight, with the lever under the seat post. Open this lever, move the seat post to your desired height, firmly push the lever back tightly.

Bikes for people 5′-6’5″, up to 300 pounds

Redding Bikeshare bikes are designed to be easy to ride and accessible to most people. The adjustable seat can fit heights from 5’ to 6’ 5”. The frame can support up to 300 lbs.

Front and rear lights turn on -> when you pedal

The front and rear facing lights are Dynamo lights which are powered by the rotation of the wheels. Start pedaling and the lights will turn on automatically. They’ll turn off shortly after you stop riding.

Helmets are recommended

There is no California Law requiring bicycle helmets for individuals over the age of 18. We strongly recommend wearing a helmet whenever riding a bicycle. Redding Bikeshare does not provide users with a helmet. We strongly encourage all users to bring their own helmet, and to ride as cautiously as possible.

Overage fees for rides more than 60 minutes

Bikeshare is a transit service, not a bike rental. We all share the bikes throughout the day. Each bikeshare pass type includes unlimited one-hour rides to help you get from place to place.

If you want to take a longer ride, that is ok – there is an additional $3 for each half-hour time period or part thereof. For example, if you rode a bike for 2 hours and 7 minutes, you would receive a charge of $9 in overage fees.

Questions? Customer Service call/text (530) 355-9434

Many rides dock to dock, less than 60 minutes

Bikeshare is a transit service, with unlimited rides throughout the day. When you return your bike to a dock before your ride reaches 60 minutes – you will not be charged overage fees.
Check a bike out again – and keep riding.

In the App: receive/stop text notifications

Within the Redding Bikeshare app you can choose to receive text notifications. These notifications are helpful since they will notify you when your bike has been returned, when your ride has gone over an hour, and other information relevant to your account.

To update your message settings:
– Open the BCycle app
– Choose the person icon in the right-hand corner
– Choose settings
– Turn on or off “send text notifications”

Check the map for bikes and open docks

Check the map in the BCycle app to find the next closest station to you. The Redding Bikeshare team works to make sure that bikes and open docks are available at each station. Issues? (530) 355-9434

– Before you start your ride – the map shows number of bikes available
– When you are riding – the map shows number of open docks

If you are pressed for time and/or all nearby stations are full, we ask that you take the bike with you or place it somewhere safe and call us with a detailed description of the situation.

Despite our team working diligently to ensure there are always open docks at each station, this does happen on occasion.
